Kimberly Mask: writer · editor · analyst · thinker · worry wart · realist · researcher · traveler · wife · mother · daughter · sister · life-long Floridian
I am a marketing professional with 20 years of experience, but my true passion is writing. I enjoy writing fiction and non-fiction prose and helping others edit their work. I have a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and make my home in Tallahassee, Florida.
I’m over it…I think?
Is a memoir of my life growing up in the Florida panhandle in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.
It is a peek into nearly a decade of emotional abuse I experienced at the hands of my stepmother and the way it colored the rest of my life.
Emotional abuse is just as damaging as physical abuse, but it is not discussed nearly as much. Many people, including me, don’t even know they suffered emotional abuse until years later during therapy.
My story is not new, nor is it unique, but merely an example of how words hurt children and leave lasting scars.
